The infectious fever & flu viral bugs are back with vengeance.
I'm one of the victim. *rub vicks vaporub @ nostrils* This is the second time I'm down with it. I was on MC last week and I thought I am all well and strong again. Back to office on Monday. But yesterday, I got my first symptom of sore throat. Dry, sore and irritated. *clears throat*
Look around me. No one is down with flu. Only this morning, I saw CT. She's feeling a lil' unwell as she walked in the rain yesterday. Not possible. A concerned colleague told me "Take Vitamin C lah. Mebbe your body not enough of it" and I dig out the bottle and showed it to her. Uh-Oh! Yeah....no matter how much vitamins and supplements I took - I'm still sick.
Nah! Dont blame the over-dosage of the supplements and vitamins. I havent been taking 'em consistenly of late. I just forgot the daily ritual.
I know who to blame. *points at the fella in the fishtank* He's the reason. My boss. I over-worked becos of him. This month is the busiest for me. He's been bugging me every now and then. Chasing after me like a mad cat. The last straw I had was yesterday. Perhaps..... ako kena demam terkejut.
I went to his office just now to pass him the reports with my bruised, shiny, wet nose. (shiny and wet becos of the vicks lahh!) Occasionally, letting out dry cough. His reaction - "You're sick? Take care. Oh! Please remember to get the rest of the reports ready before our trip yeah?" *grumbling*
Damn! I miss my all time favourite - "U look unwell...go back and take a rest. See a doctor and come back when you're well again ok" He used to say this before he's married. :(
My boss has changed!! Now that he's married he seems to be less sensitive and no more a caring man. *wails* I want the old single, botak ang-moh back!
*tunjuk perasaan*
stamps feet...hit keyboard...push all the files away from the table
Bodoh punyer BOSS!
Today is MIL's 50th birthday. May Allah grant her with health, wealth and happiness. Amin....
But we gave her a surprise celebration yesterday. FIL and SILs (reads:siblings-in-law) including dh had together planned the surprise a week before the BIG day. FIL has agreed to bring MIL out together with FIL's best friend and wife. They met up at 7am and decided to go MIL's kampung in JB to pass time.
Things around the house appeared normal before their departure. Everyone started to get very busy with the food preparations after they left. YES! The brothers and sisters are all working together to cook a variety of dishes. It's a very exciting moment not-on-the-withstanding-fact that the tasks are rather challenging and tiring.
Dh is in-charge of marketing. I'm working from my own abode preparing the soup, sauce and some veggy for the Yong Tau Foo. *winks @ Kak Zu*
We dropped by a fellow friend's wedding and quickly made our way to my in-laws place to help the others. My oh my! What a pleasant sight. Everyone and I meant by every single soul in the house is busy with a task. It's like putting everything you know and learnt hands-on while helping mom in the kitchen into use. Isnt that exciting?
Credits should go to my 2 beloved SILs. *applaud* SR came out with the creative DIY idea of stuffing the chillies, ladyfingers and beancurds for the YTF. While SS held the major works – frying a big wok of bee hoon, marinating the chicken wings, frying the dory fish etc etc. Another credits to the youngest BIL for his grilled chicken specialty and the sweet and sour sauce for the fillets and 2nd BIL for taking charge of the cutlery arrangements. But of course, without the help of the other siblings, things would not have been done in a perfect and orderly manner.
As in all birthday celebration, after the doa and birthday song, MIL cut the cake and was later presented with her birthday gift. The kids including FIL got her a bangle. From where? Tingkat dua Joo Chiat Complex. *LOL* Of course not from there lah....not too sure from where but definitely from one of the jewellery shop around.
As the pictures were not taken in a satisfactory manner, thus, I decided to forgo the idea of putting it up. All thanks to dh for his not-in-the-mood-to-take-pictures skill. *sulked*
If only it’d been ME who had taken the pictures, I’d have taken every details from the moment MIL step her foot in the house. She definitely had a pleasant surprise to see the crowd in the house. There were close family members to celebrate the happy occasion. People like dh’s Mak Long and Mak Busu family were there to witness the cake cutting ceremony. *LoL*
Verdict of the food presentation? Well.....syukur alhamdulillah none has developed any diarrhoea effects. In fact, one of the guests present jokingly said that the kids can now handle the cooking fully while mom take her rest. WHAT?! Definitely SS's pair of eyebrows were the first to raise. *chucklez*
I was in the printing room to collect my reports when I happened to bump into one of my colleague there, TC. He initiated the small talk.....
TC : Hello!
ME : Hi!
TC : Eh! U Muslim cannot eat pork right?
ME : Of course NOT la! Obviously u should know what.
TC : But my maid hor Muslim eat pork u know. No choice. She has to eat what we eat.
ME : Oh! *not surprised knowing him* That's between her and GOD lah.
TC : U sure u have never eat pork?
ME : Of course! What do u think? I'd put my religion at stake?! *irritated*
TC : But my maid eat u know. *chucklez*
ME : So what? That's your maid not ME. Even if u kill me to eat pork I'd never eat it. I'd rather starve u know.
TC : But u know maids here cant expect employer to attend to their needs.
ME : As an employer u ought to learn to be sensitive when it comes to religion.
TC : I just dun understand why.
ME : Do u like it if i forced u to go for circumcision?!?!
TC : What? Cut my bird? For what?
ME : Because you got no choice lor.
TC : Crazy ah!
ME : Same rationale as your maid's situation.
TC : *laffing to provoke me* Eh! U know she go back her village her mum ask her to sleep outside the house. *still laffing*
ME : She deserved even more. Anyway, I'm not here to judge her. I'm not GOD.
TC : *laffing* I just dun understand why u Muslim dun eat pork.
ME : Can you eat beef?
TC : No lah! Of course not.
ME : Then why u ask Muslim eat pork? R u out of your mind?!
TC : *still laffing* So funny lah u all.
(visualise a middle finger to the ass****)
ME : OK lah. I've got to go - work to do.
DAMN! He's not the only one here fooling with my religion. I tried to avoid anyone of them asking me more about Islam. Not that I dun wanna spread the teachings. But GOD knows how much I hate it when I was trying to explain and there ....they're already making fun of it. That moment I felt like throwing faeces on their faces and stuff dead rat into their mouth.
O Allah Almighty, give me the strength to go through this. Amiin....
*dab teary eyes*
Today is definitely a bad day for me.
Start of the day
I was sitting in front of a young chinese lady. She was crossing her legs, when I happened to be looking at her direction. Guess what? She exposed her panties right smack on my face! Suey liao. Damn chor-lor lah that char-bor. She could have done it in a feminine manner by pressing her left hand on her skirt; and the other hand pressing the sides of the skirt on the seat. Then carefully cross her legs. Isnt that the way to do it since her skirt was almost like the length of a jogging short. What a bad start of the day.*sigh* Hopefully, the rest of the day will work out better than this.
Before long........
During lunch
I had gone to SingPost to do money order. Since I dont have a small change, I'd given the staff there a bigger note for the commission. After the transaction, I left the counter and met up with my colleagues for lunch. While queueing for my food, then I realised I had not collected my change from SingPost. *smacks forehead* I was lucky I had some money to pay for my meal. Otherwise, I'd have to beg the aunty for free meal. *chucklez*
I joined the girls at the table and relate to them the incidence. They offered to help me in case the staff did not want to return my money. We decided to drop by Watson to shop for tidbits.
After lunch
I was browsing the things on the shelf when I suddenly realised something missing. Yikes! My handphone. Where's my handphone? I was very panicky. I began searching hinh and low for it in the whole store. Damn! It's nowhere to be found. Saw my colleague, H. She told me to check my pouch. I didnt. But she did it for me since I looked very confused. Trying hard to recall the last spot I last held my hp. I decided to ran all the way back to the food centre, ran up the staircase and straight to the table we last sat. Oh no! The table has been cleared and the cleaner claimed not to have seen it. I'm closed to tears. That hp very precious you know, of sentimental value, given by my dh. Nanti kena marah :(
A young teenager approached me when he saw the distressing look on my face. Offered to help ask the old aunty and translated to her. But to no avail. I felt paisey by his kind act then. I remembered we couldnt be bothered to donate as we were busy eating when he approached our table just now. Now....... *speechless*
I left the food centre with a heavy heart. That's it. Just not my luck. Bye bye handphone.
As I was walking back to meet up my colleagues, I heard a familiar ringing tone. I looked around and try to follow the sound. Guess where I heard it? *hold onto my breath* Voila! It's in my pouch which was strapped around my wrist all along. *bags face* I was in mid air then. I cursed and scolded myself for causing the unnecessary distress. If I had a heart attack, confirm dah innalillah (*dead) Really. I wasnt exaggerating. My limbs went weak and felt like fainting. Same feeling when I last lost my pouch which contained valuables n cash!
Lesson to be leartnt
1) Read on the way to work in MRT to avoid bad sightings.
2) Free your hands to dig out the $$ to donate even when you're busy eating.
3) Learn to relax. Breathe in....breathe out.
Oh yes! We dropped by SingPost to look for the staff whom attended to me an hour ago. Luckily, she didnt ask much question and returned my change. She also one goon-doo. How can she forget to return my change. Luckily I remembered. Otherwise $48 gone to SingPost for nothing.
What a day!
Saturday was mom's birthday. Together with my cousin - J, my dh and I, we decided to send her a basket of fruits as a surprise gift on Friday in advance. Hoping that she'd get well in time to celebrate her birthday. We went in JB late evening on Saturday after a wedding and a kenduri and were caught in the massive jam since 4pm. Stuck there for a good hour and a half. Bad choice but who cares. :p The "it" thing is the pulling factor besides shopping for groceries, stopping by KOMTAR to get J's engagement accessories before we finally brought mom for her birthday treat. Supper @ Singgah Selalu. We were really happy that mom's appetite is improving. (Hasnt been eating well since she has been sick for 3 weeks) Mesti pekena ikan bakar dan kangkong goreng belacan. Food quality there has slackened. Unfortunately, that's the only seafood eating house we knew. Dh isnt too familiar with the routes in JB. We decided to make a move at ard 12.30am and voila! more traffic congestion. Traffic at JB custom were very s-l-o-w. *yawnz* However in contrast, the traffic in SG were pretty smooth. Shorter waiting time. By the time we reached home, it's almost 3am. Unpacked all the items before going to bed.
Sunday - it was Charm's wedding. Grande. Unique. Awesome. U name it. The bride and groom look stunning in their gold outfit. Like betel and nut cut into half lah! I'm glad I went for the wedding. Almost thought of giving it a miss due to lack of sleep and still recovering from the fatigue feeling.
To Charm and hubby : SELAMAT PENGANTIN BARU! SEMOGA KEKAL HINGGA KE SYURGA. Amiinnnn...
Some pictures (courtesy from shireen) to do the talking ....

in their wedding outfits. gorgeous.

some of the day's event. lastly pics of us for posterity. ;-)
Here's a funny encounter with my aunt.....
While I was busy packing my stuffs to be brought home after the wedding....
MB : Bunga tuh bunga betol ke bunga bedek? (Is the flower real or artificial?)
the mischievious me decided to play a prank on her that instance...
ME : Mana? Nie? (Which one? This?)
showing her the ivy i was holding
MB : Ha'ah... (Yeahh...)
ME : Oh! Ini bunga betol. Bukan bunga tanam2 tau. Bunga nie bole makan. Rasanya manis. Buat dari gula icing lembut ah. (Oh! This is real flowers. Not the potted ones. This is edible. It's sweet. Made from soft icing sugar.)
putting up the innocent look and acted busy with the packing; so as to make it look convincing enough. *chuckles*
MB : Ehh? *surprised*
ME : Ha'ah. Nak rasa tak? Lagi orang belum simpan nie nak bawak balik... (Yeah. Wanna try? Since I've not packed to be brought home....)
by this time, i was trying very hard to contain my laughter.
MB : Bole jugak... (Can...)
heh! my cousin and his wife already knew what's gonna happen next. they played along with me. poor mb! *LOL* and so i went over to her, put the ivy nearer to her and guess what?? she stuck out her tongue and carefully placed the petal on it.
ME : Sedap tak? Manis kan? (Nice? Sweet isnt?) *wide grin*
then she realised I was fooling her. before she could react, I've already ran away from her and hid behind my dh.
MB : Kong asam kau! Main2kan ako eh. Jaga kau ako kutil2 isi kau biar sampai tercabut. (U better watch out! I'm gonna pinch u hard till your skin came off.)
we definitely had a great laugh. wish the videocam was in hand. otherwise, i'd get dh to record from the beginning she asked me about the flower.
My poor mb! She prolly thought I was as innocent as I'd look. Luckily she's a sporting aunt. My mum could only gave a weak smile as she's still sick. Cant laugh hard or she'd be coughing badly. Poor mummy! :(
Here's the flower I was talking about....
see the ivy there? that's the one lar.... *LOL*
*waves to all*
Hi! I'm back to blogging and back to office.
Been tied up with work in the office as well as the wedding. Not mine of course. It's my cousin's. :p
Seeing all the things falling nicely in place just made you feel proud. Every lil' detail counts. Heh! I've accomplised Mission 1 satisfactorily. I was real close to giving up. All thanks to 2 members of the family who almost spoiled my plan. I was real lucky to have the groom's parents, mom and my cousin J to back me up.
This pathetic wedding planner does the planning to running errands all around the place. Paka-liao everything. Kompang team come look for her. Kitchen no manpower call her. Convey messages phone her. Mak Andam look for her. Caterer look for her. All her...her...her. *faints*
The moment she and J disappeared out of sight for a minute, all became panicky. Ahh! Thanks to her right winger J. Feet all big and sore. From Marie Claire to Tat Shing. (Reads: from high heels to selipar jepun)
Other cousins many many. But no help. Only catch glamour. (Tangkap glamer lah!) Young cousins and nieces all help. Poor them. Box bigger than them. They pushed together. Very smart. No need talk many many.
Unfortunately, not all that you planned will go smooth sailing. There's definitely hiccups. My mum fell ill. Very ill that I've to take longer days off from work. :( She has been very tired over the wedding preps I suppose. Despite her ailing condition, she still turned up for the wedding. Dia tukang simpan duit salam kerok! *giggles*
Ahh! Now I talk finish. U people see pictures OK.
Big thank you to Ayu @ Jetaime for her beautiful cupcakes. To syidah @ Hadiys Arte for her personalised touch on the bride's table. It's really nice to be working with both of you. Thanks gals! *big hug* Hope to work with you again yeah. *wink wink*
Bloggers.....if you are keen on the above, approached them personally ya.
